Places to Stay

We are always looking for small, comfortable and friendly hotels to be able to recommend to our guests when staying in San Jose, Golfito or Pto Jimenez for a layover night. Here are a few that we know personally:


SAN JOSE:


Pura Vida Hotel - A wonderful hotel located in Alajuela and only 10 minutes from the airport. Owners and hosts Bernie and Nhi serve first class meals, provide lots of information about Costa Rica and offer very comfortable cabins and beds. www.puravidahotel.com


Casa Bella Rita - The #1 rated B&B located in San Jose. Friendly owners, big rooms, ac, wifi and super comfy beds along with a great breakfast. They will pay for a taxi when coming from the airport and arrange transport when you leave.

Hotel MiTierra - A small hotel 5 minutes from the airport. Located near the center of Alajuela and many restaurants.

Very reasonable price and includes breakfast. From the airport it is a $6 or $7 taxi ride. WiFi in the lobby.

Hotel Brilla Sol - A small costa rican hotel 10 minutes from the airport They have a shuttle, restaurant and include breakfast. They are in a quiet residential area. WiFi in the lobby

Adventure Inn - More of an "american" style hotel with pool, restaurant and air conditioning.

GOLFITO:


Hotel Mar y Luna – Bay view, bar/restaurant and comfortable accommodations. We pick up at their dock. Rooms $50 - $100 for 2 persons including breakfast. If you are driving and coming to Saladero there is no charge for leaving a car if you rent a room. Wifi in all rooms. email [email protected]

UVITA:

Villas De Oros  -  DRIVING? If you are driving and don't want to stay in Golfito, Ojochal is on the way from San Jose. Just a short drive from Uvita and about 1 1/2 hours from Golfito, it is a very nice small hotel located right on the highway. Rooms are spacious with a small kitchen and cooking area. Don't want to cook? Several good restaurants close by.
