Whenever available, fresh juices, herbs, root vegetables, and fruits are harvested from our gardens at Saladero. These include coconut, bananas, plantains, pineapples, papaya, guananaba, culantro, ginger, tumeric, yucca, araza, lemongrass, oranges, lemons and limes. Many of these foods have health giving properties. We raise our own free range chickens and organic eggs. All fish is fresh and caught in the area nearby Saladero. Meals are prepared from scratch and served family style. Our set menu varies from a mixture of local Costa Rican to a fusion of international favorites.


Costa Rican coffee (or black tea)

Gallo Pinto:  (Costa Rican specialty rice and beans with spices, onions, garlic and peppers) with eggs of your choice.

Eggs:  Scrambled or fried.

Harvey’s special (world famous) banana and walnut pancakes with homemade unrefined syrup.

Omelets: Fillings may include zucinni, green/red pepper, onions or cheese.

Fruits: banana, pineapple, mango and papaya.

All meals served with natural juices.*


 Quesadillas:  A Saladero favorite. Two flour tortillas, toasted with refried beans, rice and cheese, with or without chicken and served with sour cream, tomato salsa and guacamole.

Chalupas:   Fried tortillas with refried beans, lettuce, tomato salsa, guacamole, cheddar cheese  with a sour cream topping.

Traditional Fish Soup:  Made with fresh caught Red Snapper, yucca,  chahote, coconut milk, lemongrass, potatoes and corn. Delicioso.!!!

Exotic Green Papaya Salad:  Served with shredded papaya, hearts of palm and homemade cilantro or papaya seed salad dressing.

Saladero Garden Leaf Salad: Moringa, Katuk and Red Hibiscus leaves combined with shredded cabbage and sliced onion, topped with sliced almonds and served with our homemade pineapple vinegarette salad dressing.

Empanadas: Homemade corn tortillas wrapped around a meat mixture (or vegetables for non meat eaters) served with a mild chilero sauce and green salad.

Afternoon Salsas

Fresh homemade mango, tomato or guacamole salsas served with tortilla chips or fried plantain chips. (Sometimes fresh ceviche when you catch fish).


 Red Snapper or Spanish Mackerel:  Sauteed in coconut oil then baked with lemongrass, ginger and coconut milk. This can also be served spicy with a Thai curry sauce if you like. Includes white rice and salad.

 Pork Chops: Smoked, grilled or fried with black beans, mango salsa, fried yucca and a salad.

 Chicken: Roasted, grilled or fried with baked potatoes, corn and salad. Ask for our special Chimichurri sauce!!!

 Pasta: Served with a choice of either ground pork or vegetarian tomato sauce. Served with parmesan cheese, fresh homemade bread and salad.

Pizza: Our wood fired pizza oven makes the very best pizzas in the Golfo Dulce (almost anywhere). Choose your own toppings and watch them being made.

Salads served with dinners

Green Salad: Lettuce with tomatoes, onion, cucumber, mixed leaves from our gardens. 

Garbanzo Salad Garbanzos: olive oil, vinegar, onion, cilantro, garlic and  tomato.

Green Papaya Salad: Shredded green papaya, shredded carrot, cilantro, crushed roasted peanuts, lime juice, garlic and Asian  fish sauce served on a bed of lettuce


Sustainable Salad: Made with leaves from our gardens including red hibiscus, moringa (tree of life) and katuk, mixed with hearts of palm, onion and various other greens, seeds or nuts.
