We are honored to work with Osa Conservation in several local conservation programs and to be able to offer this tropical conservation package for couples, families and small groups.

We have found many people visiting us are interested in the local conservation programs efforts as well as tropical ecology in general. We have been working with Osa Conservation on the Cat monitoring program since 2014 and are very happy to announce a package that includes an introduction to mangroves, wild animal monitoring, turtle conservation, reforestation and sustainable living. Osa Verde Biostation by Osa Conservaion is a research center dedicated to environmental education and also provides facilities for scientists studying many facets of tropical biology.

Learn about conservation while assisting scientists and doing field work in:

  • Wildlife Program: Monitor threatened megafauna including apex predators like the Jaguar and their prey - white-lipped peccaries, using a conservation tech toolkit such as camera traps and acoustic monitoring devices to obtain vital wildlife population distribution information to guide conservation efforts.

  • Restoration and Rewilding Program: Explore the history of deforestation & biodiversity loss in the Osa and learn techniques that Osa Conservation uses to restore degraded forests. Hike through primary and secondary forests and gain skills in identifying and planting native tree species.

  • Sea Turtle Conservation Program: Monitor the beach for nesting sea turtles, learn about the sea turtle species that visit the Osa and gain an understanding of their ecology, threats and conservation challenges.

  • Agroecological Regenerative Farm: Understand the problems of environmental sociology related to agricultural exploitation. Learn good practices in regenerative agriculture and agroecology while planting and cultivating greens and fruits, and elaborating bio-inputs.

And there is still plenty of time to kayak, snorkel local coral reefs and hike in Piedras Blancas National Park.

A perfect family vacation and what  better way for children to learn about conservation efforts to protect our environment and endangered animals.
